Frequently Asked Questions

How does the consensus forecast work?

weNow queries multiple weather services simultaneously and computes a weighted median of their predictions. Higher-quality weather models (like ECMWF via Open-Meteo) receive more weight. Statistical outliers are removed automatically. The result is a single forecast that's more reliable than any individual source.

Why do different sources show different temperatures?

Weather providers use different forecasting models, station networks, and update schedules. A 1-3 degree spread is normal. When sources strongly disagree, it means there's genuine uncertainty in the forecast — and weNow shows you that transparently.

What does the confidence color mean?

On widgets, a green indicator means sources agree closely (within 1.5 degrees). Yellow means moderate disagreement (within 3 degrees). Red means significant disagreement (more than 3 degrees). This helps you gauge how much to trust the current forecast at a glance.

How do I switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit?

Open Settings (gear icon on the main screen) and look for the "Units" section. Tap "Imperial" for Fahrenheit, mph, and inHg, or "Metric" for Celsius, m/s, and hPa. The setting applies to the app and widgets.

Why is my daily request limit only 5?

Each weather request queries multiple paid API providers on your behalf. The free tier allows 5 requests per day to keep the service sustainable. Premium (coming soon) will offer higher limits.

Do the widgets count against my daily limit?

No. Widgets use a separate endpoint with its own limit of 100 requests per day — enough for an update every 30 minutes around the clock.

Why can't I see widgets in Expo Go?

Android widgets require native code that isn't available in Expo Go. To use widgets, install the app from a production build (Play Store or APK).

Does weNow track me?

No. weNow has no analytics, no advertising IDs, no cookies, and no third-party tracking SDKs. Your location is processed in memory and not stored on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I change the language?

Open Settings and tap the current language. Choose from 50 supported languages. Weather descriptions are fully translated, not just the UI.

The app shows "Daily limit reached" — what do I do?

Your 5 free daily requests have been used. The limit resets at midnight UTC. You can still view your most recent weather data and use widgets (which have a separate limit).
